Informacje o Produkcie
Gelatin free hydrocolloid paste sterilized by radiation. It forms gel upon absorbing wound exudates, providing a moist
wound environment and supporting granulation and epithelialization.
• Healing in moist environment: interacts with wound exudate to form a moist wound environment.
• Painless and atraumatic removal: Due to its fatty, yet non-greasy, nature, together with the gel formation property upon exudates
contact, the hydrocolloid paste allows the atraumatic removal of the dressing without damaging newly formed tissue.
• Absorbent: Due to the fact that Cavicoll® contains a high percentage of superabsorbent polymer, the paste aids in the absorption of
excessive exudate and extend the life of the secondary dressing, increasing the wear time and decreasing dressing change rate.
• Aids autolytic debridement.
• Helps increase ostomy system wear time and protects the skin.
Cavicoll® is intended to be used in association with a secondary dressing such as Protectfilm® for the management of exuding dermal
ulcers, including full-thickness wounds, such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic ulcers.
Cavicoll® also can be used to seal ostomy bags where paste fills deeper cavities and folds, creating a tight seal between the base plate
and the skin.
•Paraffinic components have non-polar fatty nature, so they do not adhere to the polar proteinaceous exudates.
•Hydrocolloid particles absorb exudates and turn to gel which provides optimum moist environment that enhances wound healing. Furthermore, it aids non-adherence due to synergistic action between gel and paraffinic components.
a. Preparation of the wound site:
1. Cleanse the wound bed according to the hospital practice.
2. Irrigate with physiological saline solutoon.
3. Dry surrounding skin carefully to remove any greasy substances since these will interfere with the
adhesion of the secondary dressing.
b. Cavicoll® application:
1. Squeeze the paste into the wound, smooth it using sterile spatula or sterile gloved finger. The surface
of the paste should not protrude above the level of the surrounding skin (excess paste should be removed).
2. Select a secondary dressing of appropriate size so that it extends at least for 2.5 cm onto the normal
skin, apply and hold gently in place to ensure good adhesion of the secondary dressing.
c. Removal:
Cavicoll® will gradually form a gel-like substance in the presence of wound exudates; this can be removed with saline solution during the dressing change.
Materials adhering to the wound margins shouldn’t be completely removed if a new dressing is to be
applied.
