Product Info
eXsorb® Algi is a superabsorbent hydrocapillary wound dressing made of acrylic and viscose fibers plus a distribution layer, enveloped in a non-woven pouch , used with wounds that are prone to minor bleeding due to the haemostatic properties of the added calcium alginate.
Its white side is a low-adherent wound contact layer. Upon absorption of exudates, the dressing forms a soft hydrophilic gel that locks away bacteria and harmful proteases, reducing risk of infection and maceration.
- Can absorb and trap up to 20 times its weight of blood and fluids.
- The pad can quickly absorb wound exudates and form a gel. Exudates are locked inside the dressing away from wound and surrounding skin; this prevents maceration and retains a humid surface environment to facilitate wound healing.
- The pad can keep the absorbed exudates even under compression.
- The high absorbency allows for fewer dressing changes, leaving the fragile wound bed relatively undisturbed.
- Soft fluffy conformable wound pad providing cushioning effect.
- Atraumatic and painless dressing removal.
- The presence of PE net as a wound contact layer allows fast, controlled absorbency of light exudates.
eXsorb® is highly absorbent pad ideal for heavily exuding acute and chronic wounds, e.g leg ulcers, pressure areas, donor sites and most other granulating wounds; also used as a pressure pad to stop bleeding.
• Do not use on Eyes, mucous membranes or tendons, due to the risk of dehydration.
• Do not use on any cavity or sinuses, as the dressing will swell on absorption.
• Do not use on dry/low exuding wounds, as the absorption capacity may cause sticking to the wound or cause the wound to dry out and become painful.
• Do not use on patients with a known allergy to any acrylic substance.
• Do not use as a surgical sponge or to achieve haemostasis in heavily bleeding wounds.
• Do not use on an infected wounds unless under medical supervision.
It depends on the state of the wound. In case of sloughy or heavily exuding wounds, the dressing should be changed daily. For lower exuding wounds, the dressing could be left in place for longer time.
1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.
2. Apply eXsorb® Algi directly over the wound area where the white side should be the wound contact layer. For best results, the pad should
overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least 2 cm.
3. Secondary film dressing should be used to secure the dressing in place e.g. Protectfilm®.
