Product Info
Pharma-Algi ® F Adhesive Film Frame Style: is Island dressing made of non-adherent pad ( haemostatic and absorbent wound dressing, made of calcium alginate fibres, carded and needle punched to form a nonwoven absorbent felt) adhere to Polyurethane film substrate coated with pressure sensitive adhesive equipped with a frame delivery system for easy application.
1-Haemostatic effect: due to calcium – sodium ions exchange where calcium ions are donated to the wound which is vital factor for the clotting process.
2-High Absorption capacity: absorb wound exudates and locks it inside the formed gel so prevents skin maceration.
3-Moist wound environment: Upon contact with wound exudates, it rapidly gels which overlays the wound and provides a moist micro-environment that promotes healing and formation of granulation tissue.
4-Conformable and soft: conforms to wound contours.
5-Atraumatic Dressing removal: gel formation prevents adherence of the dressing to the newly formed tissues.
6-Unique Integrity: allowing removal of the dressing as one piece.
Pharma-Algi ® F Adhesive :are used as primary dressing to manage partial thickness wounds with moderate to highly exudates that have breached dermis which may also be prone to minor bleeding: • Cavity Wounds, chronic Wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, traumatic wounds, lacerations, abrasions and donor sites.
• Do not use on patients with a known allergy to alginates.
• Do not use on dry/low exudating wounds, as the absorption capacity may cause sticking to the wound or cause the wound to dry out and become painful.
• Do not use on Eyes, mucous membranes or tendons, due to the risk of dehydration.
• It is not intended to be used as a surgical sponge or to achieve haemostasis in heavily bleeding wounds.
• Do not use on infected wounds unless under medical supervision.
• For single use only. Reuse may cause cross contamination.
• Dispose as a contaminated product.
• Make sure the skin is clean, dry and free from soap residue and lotion to ensure good adhesion.
• Do not stretch the dressing during application as tension can cause skin trauma.
• If the dressing is not easily removed, moisten it with saline, and then remove.
1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.
2. Choose a dressing with island pad which is slightly larger than the wound and place it in intimate contact with the wound base, ensuring the entire surface is covered.
3. Peel the liner from the dressing, exposing the adhesive surface, and then center the dressing over the wound. Gently press the adhesive side down, smoothing from the center outward.
4. In case of Island Dressings with frame delivery system or crack cut backing paper, slowly remove the frame or the backing paper while pressing down and smoothing the film border to ensure good adhesion.
5. Generally dressings should be changed daily in heavily draining wounds, reducing to twice weekly (or weekly) as healing proceeds.
