Product Info
Pharmapore® IV Algi: Non woven dressing for skin sensitive people, having incision along the middle and haemostatic absorbent pad at the end of Incision, located in central position (Pharma-Algi®). Indicated for cannula and catheter fixation on sensitive skin.
- Highly absorbent:
Pharmapore® IV Algi is highly absorbent due to presence of superabsorbent powder (sodium alginate) and also by capillary rise in nonwoven fibres.
- Haemostat effect:
Due to calcium-sodium exchange, Calcium ions which are vital for the clotting process to be successful are released into the wound, which ensures bleeding is stopped.
- Conformable:
The dressing is very soft and conformable, so it conforms to wound contours, It also becomes softer and more intimate to the wound after gelling.
Also Pharmapore® IV Algi adhesive dressings are used to achieve haemostasis at the bleeding site after needle removal in the renal dialysis and for protection of orificium fistulae.
• The use of alginate dressing is not recommended for infants less than 12 months of age.
• Do not use in third degree burns.
• The dressing may adhere if used on very lightly exuding wounds. If the dressing is not easily removed, moisten it with saline, and then remove.
• Do not use on patients with a known allergy to alginates.
• Do not use on dry or necrotic tissues.
• Whilst Pharma-Algi® assists in the management of wounds prone to minor bleeding, it is not intended to be used as a surgical sponge or to
achieve haemostasis in heavily bleeding wounds.
• When used on infected wounds, the infection should be inspected and treated in accordance with local clinical protocol.
• Secondary film dressing or conforming bandage should be used to secure the dressing in place.
Sodium alginate used in this product rapidly gels and forms a physiologically moist microenvironment
that promotes healing and the formation of granulation tissue. Calcium present in this product, exchanges with sodium

• Step 1: Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.
• Step 2: Choose a dressing with island pad which is slightly larger than the wound and place it in intimate contact with the wound base,
ensuring the entire surface is covered.
• Step 3: Peel the liner from the dressing, exposing the adhesive surface, and then center the dressing over the wound. Gently press the
adhesive side down, smoothing from the center outward.
• Step 4: In case of Island Dressings with frame delivery system or crack cut backing paper, slowly remove the frame or the backing paper
while pressing down and smoothing the film border to ensure good adhesion.
• Step 5: Generally dressings should be changed daily in heavily draining wounds,
Reducing to twice weekly (or weekly) as healing proceeds.
• Step 6: To remove Pharma-Algi®, use tweezers, forceps or a gloved hand to gently lift the dressing away – The dressing may adhere if used on a very lightly exuding wound. Removal of the dressing is facilitated by saturating the wound with saline.
